About Us

Our Mission

The Canadian Knife & Tool Institute (CKTI) is a non-profit advocacy organization established to protect and defend the interests of the Canadian cutlery industry and its stakeholders. Edged tools remain an essential part of Canadian heritage, trade, and daily utility—relied upon by tradespeople, first responders, outdoor professionals, culinary specialists, and everyday consumers across the country. Through industry coordination, public education, and regulatory advocacy, the CKTI works to promote fair, transparent policy while supporting the long-term stability and responsible growth of Canada’s knife and tool community.

Who Are We?

The CKTI serves as a unified framework against arbitrary and unpredictable border enforcement affecting the Canadian cutlery industry and its stakeholders. Through legal advocacy, regulatory engagement, and industry collaboration, the organization works to protect importation channels and preserve consumer access to essential tools relied upon by tradespeople, outdoor professionals, and everyday Canadians. The CKTI was established to provide a centralized, non-profit voice capable of supporting long-term stability, transparency, and sustainable growth across the Canadian knife and tool industry.

Founder & Leadership

The CKTI was founded by Andre Eng, a 40-year executive veteran of the global cutlery industry and President of House of Knives. Over four decades, Mr. Eng has built an unparalleled understanding of commercial importation mechanics, regulatory compliance, and international manufacturing partnerships across major cutlery hubs in Japan, Germany, and China. He established the CKTI to transition the industry from fragmented corporate appeals into a centralized, non-profit national defense.
